FANSITE EXCLUSIVE: Capitol Portrait of District 3 Victor Beetee
Yesterday, the Capitol teased you tributes with a new clue as to who was being revealed next. Who is eccentric and electric? Just what in the world is a Capitol Tastemaker?! I saw a lot of speculation that this meant we’d get to see Peeta Mellark today.
Those of you that guessed we’d see Beetee next were right on the money! Today, Mockingjay.net is pleased to be one of 12 fansites, your new Capitol Tastemakers, presenting to you your first official look at District 3 victor Beetee in his Capitol portrait.
What do you guys think? Doesn’t he look so dapper yet so quietly rebellious?

He is holding a white rose!!
All of the tributes are sitting in the same brown chairs…?
It’s probably trying to foreshadow the winning tributes that will be in the arena because it doesn’t show Haymitch in the same chair as the rest of them, and the white rose symbolizes that Snow pretty much owns and controls them. Man all these hidden messages are awesome!
Next is Johanna for sure! Dying to see Jena

I think they are going to save Finnick for last…..I hope we get Enobaria next……I’ve been dying to see her teeth….
I’m trying to be happy with him, but I’m still not satisfied with him being cast as Beetee. He just looks so different from how I imagine him.
I know what you mean. I had a great image of Tony Shalhoub (the guy from Monk) to play Beetee. He worked great in my head and was really hoping for him to get the part but sadly he didn’t. So now there isn’t anything we can do but cheer him on as Beetee and hope he’ll deliver a great version of my favorite character from Catching Fire.
I just hope he isn’t too serious and negative. Beetee is the cheery, quirky mad scientist, and Jeffrey Wright seems too serious and brooding.
OMG I absolutely CANNOT wait for the rest of them! I’m DYING to see Peeta and Finnick!
Still would have loved to see Tony Shaloub as Beetee, but this guy is growing on me.
The white rose is a very interesting (and subtle) touch
I really hope they make emphasis on how scary and omnipresent President Snow is, because in the first movie I didn’t really get that feeling even with all the scenes that included him.
My favorite is Johanna so far, looking forward to Finnick.
Earlier today I was screaming “WHERE IS MY FINNICK!?!?!?” but yeah, I guess they’re gonna save him for last.

Hate the beard but otherwise this is so semi-evil scientist. Very “rational” looking.
While I actually like the beard, I agree with the “semi-evil scientist” vibe we get from the portrait. The clothes, on the surface, seem to come right out of the wardrobe of a stereotypical nerd or geek, especially the vest. Yet, on closer look, the vest looks suspiciously like a circuit board, and the innocuous looking tie is actually a coil of rope. (Reminds me of the coil of wire Beetee used as a weapon in both his first Games and the QQ.) I also like how Beetee looks like he’s about the snap that rose in half! Quietly rebellious, definitely!
I think it is extremely interesting that you mention that, cause i got the same feeling from all the other Tributes, like they were about the either snap or drop their rose. Like it was something the were orced to hold but really don’t want to hold.
Especially Peeta and Beetee look like they’re gonna snap it lol.
