VIDEO: Jena Malone’s Directorial Debut in Lavender Diamond’s Music Video
Most fans know that Jena Malone has been acting for years, and we’ve seen her talent with photography through her Instagram account, but did you know she can direct as well? Check out her directorial debut on the music video for Lavender Diamond’s song “I Don’t Recall.”
MTV’s Buzzworthy took a moment to talk to Jena about this video and her vision for it. Jena reveals that, being the very artistic person she is, she was inspired by an Andrew Wyeth painting that’s currently in exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art. Pretty cool, huh? They also asked her about her favorite bands, future projects in the music industry, and of course, this being MTV, they couldn’t resist sneaking in something about Catching Fire:
BW: What music did you listen to on the “Hunger Games” set?
JM: I didn’t really listen to much music on that one. It was more important to have a sense of deprivation. I’m working on another film right now called “Angelica,” which is set in 1880 Victorian London, so all I have blasting is classical and Victorian parlour music!! But occasionally when I need a break, I turn on Pandora to the En Vogue station. Nothing like a little ’90s hip-hop and R&B to make me feel like me again.
Congratulations to Jena on this fantastic achievement, and we wish her the best of luck on any future directorial projects.
PS: The girl in the picture above isn’t actually Jena– it’s Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark– but the resemblance is striking, don’t you think?
