‘Catching Fire’ Production Budget Rumored to be Twice as Much ‘The Hunger Games’
According to an article by Yahoo! Movies UK, the budget for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is double that of the first Hunger Games movie.
‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is being made for double the budget of the first movie, with the studio expecting it to be a huge hit, and counting on making big money out of it; hence the reason for the tight production schedule. This has historically not been the best way to tease out the finest cinematic productions, but given the time constraints as well, it leaves a new director with little time to battle the studio over any issues of artistic integrity. And it goes without saying that studios become a lot more prohibitive and hand wringing over a film when they’ve staked a lot of money and expectation on it.
Since no source is listed, this is being tagged as a rumor.
What do you guys think about the production budget being doubled for the sequel? I’m a bit mixed over it as a bigger budget can of course mean a much better movie, but going that big seems like a big gamble as well. Hopefully we’ll get a really good taste of how those funds were put to use on Sunday!
