CONTEST: Celebrate Katniss’s Birthday with a Mockingjay Scavenger Hunt!
Today, May 8th, is the day of birth of everyone’s favorite heroine, Katniss Everdeen. We thought we could celebrate this occasion by giving away a prize, and since Katniss is so skilled at hunting and tracking, there’s no better way to do it than by hosting a Mockingjay Scavenger Hunt!
Interested? Here’s how it works:
- Read carefully through this post. At the end of the post, you will find a clue: a sentence or two that will point you where you need to go next.
- Look through our recent news posts (say, about the last two weeks or so) for anything that might be related to the clue. Once you find the correct post, you will find your second clue at the bottom of that post, which will lead you to a third post.
- Follow the same procedure until you find a post that doesn’t have a clue, but a trivia question. (Don’t worry, it’ll only be a few posts– it won’t take you all afternoon like a real scavenger hunt would).
- If you know the answer to the trivia question, send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the answer. Be sure to mention you’re writing because of this contest.
We’ll be randomly choosing one winner out of everyone who sends in the right answer. This is your chance to win a really awesome Hunger Games prize, so be sure to participate!
PLEASE don’t post the trivia question or the answer to it in a comment anywhere on the site. The only entries that will count for the contest are those sent to our email, and if you make the answer public you might be giving the prize away to someone else! So please avoid doing this. Also, this time the contest will be restricted to US-residents only. Sorry about that! But stay tuned, because there will be more contests in the future, including some our international visitors will be able to participate in!
So, are you ready to start? Here’s your first clue: “The wings of the Monarch butterfly are tawny-orange and yellow-brown, with margins that are black and show two series of small white spots.”
Have fun, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
