Jeffrey Wright Talks Themes of The Hunger Games and How Fans Relate
Here’s a great interview with one of our new cast members!
Jeffrey Wright, who will play Beetee in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, talked to HuffPost Live about filming the movie, and the themes involved in the trilogy. Eloquent as always, he also expresses that he hopes he doesn’t “screw it up”– that’s his one job when it comes to this role.
He talks especially about his Comic Con experience, where he got to talk with fans and several fansite admins (*coughcough* my fellow Mockingjay.net staffers included! *coughcough*), and how it taught him that these themes resonate with the fans in different ways.
It was great because I asked each of them, “Why are you so passionate about this stuff?” Each of them had an individual answer, unique to their own experiences. You know, some of it was political, some of it was because they were drawn to this strong female hero at the center of it. Some of it was because they found themselves in some of the other characters who had struggles that were similar to their own. But it wasn’t superficial, it was all very personal and I think that’s exciting.
It’s clear he’s got this role well thought-out, and always keeps the fans in mind. Isn’t he great? To watch the Hunger Games part of the interview head over to AOL’s HuffPost Live Highlights, and don’t forget to comment and tell us what you think!
