‘The Hunger Games’ Black Friday Specials

Categories: Book 1: The Hunger Games, Book 2: Catching Fire, Book 3: Mockingjay, Posters

Today is Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year! We hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Those of you that spent the night sleeping in a parking lot, I feel your pain, since I’ve done it before and it wasn’t that much fun. Here are two ‘The Hunger Games’ themed Black Friday specials for you guys to check out. I know for me the Mockingjay one came in handy, since my brother just asked me for this for Christmas, though now it means getting him something else too, since 6 bucks is a bit too cheap a gift for him. :)

Don’t forget about the Limited Edition character posters as well! They come individually or as a set and would make great Christmas gifts for Hunger Games fans!

Mockingjay

One year ago today, Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins’ thrilling conclusion to The Hunger Games Trilogy was released and the world finally found out what happens to our beloved residents of Panem. Did you grab the book the first day? How fast did you breeze through it and what did you think of the ending? Share your Mockingjay release stories in comments!

Kimmy: I got a copy of ‘The Hunger Games’ back before ‘Catching Fire,’ or ‘Mockingjay’ was released. Caused a lot of anxious waiting. When I got the book, I spent a lazy Saturday reading it, not able to put it down! This site was made before ‘Catching Fire’ was released, it was launched with fellow Hunger Games fans Becka and JD. Becka had read ‘Catching Fire,’ she had gotten an ARC at Book Expo America. When we were brainstorming site names, she said ‘Mockingjay.net’ would be perfect. I hadn’t read ‘Catching Fire’ yet, but we agreed that that would be a good name! I realized just how good a name it was when a long while later, ‘Mockingjay’ had a title. We were amazed that the site had the same name as the third book, and had a podcast spazzing about it. When the release date finally came around, I went to the midnight party in my little town and started reading it that night/morning. Took me around two days to read, and I thought the ending was perfect for the story.

Crystal: I had Hunger Games pushed on me (thankfully) by my Aunty Cheryl and I rushed out and got Catching Fire immediately. Then I found out Mockingjay wasn’t published yet and I was sooo mad that I had to wait months for it to come out! I finished it so fast that I think I missed a lot of the details and so I need to go and read it again. I fall in the camp that thinks Collins couldn’t have ended her series in a more appropriate way.

Original ‘Hunger Games’ Inspired Song: Mockingjay by Rachel Macwhirter

Do you know what it’s like to be unable to believe your ears?
To hear a name you can’t bear to hear?
Do you know what it’s like to willingly throw your life away
in the hope that someone else will see another day?

Do you know that I’ll never be the same?

Didn’t mean to change the world, only wanted to save you.
Though I know that I’m only one girl, couldn’t let them take you.
So just keep shining – I promise to be your Mockingjay.

Do you know what it’s like to be in a forest built on bones
and know they’re watching you back at home?
Do you know what it’s like to scream out on the off chance
that someone will hear your voice in the distance?

Huge thanks to Rachel for sending us this video to our YouTube!

SPOILERS! Obviously.. :)

Except if she’s reading it can you view it as spoiling, especially starting from the beginning?
I just see it as starting the book early, in an awesome way, because the author’s reading it to me!
