Here’s the full version of Taylor Swift’s solo track on the Hunger Games Companion Album Songs from District 12 and Beyond. I think I can say to those of you that have had concerns about music playing during the movie that you don’t need to be concerned about that and that this truly is a just a companion album. I say “think” because I don’t actually remember any songs played in the movie, but it all went by so fast that maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention to the music… The only song I remember played during the credits. Thanks to Zac for the tip on this video!

Irish artist Glen Hansard has just tweeted about both his songs Take the Heartland and Come Away to the Water from the upcoming Hunger Games companion soundtrack, Songs From District 12 and Beyond. Both of his tweets can be seen above. You may remember someone had uploaded a video from Hansard’s live show in Vienna last September where he performed Come Away to the Water. The song hauntingly fits with Cato and you can see this performance below:

‘The Hunger Games’ Companion Album Track ‘Abraham’s Daughter’ by Arcade Fire

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed the first listen to ‘Abraham’s Daughter’, the original song by Arcade Fire that will be on the companion album Songs from District 12 and Beyond.

Arcade frontman Win Butler spoke to EW about his inspiration for the song, which will play over the movie’s closing credits: “I tried to put myself in the headspace of how excited I’d be if this film was coming out when I was 15. I still remember hearing Radiohead’s ‘Exit Music (for a Film)’ in [Baz Luhrmann’s] Romeo + Juliet when I was that age.”

“Our whole approach was to get into the world and try to create something that serves the story and the film,” he continued. ”There’s something in the story of Abraham and Isaac that I think resonates with the themes in the film, like sacrificing children. So we made a weird, alternate-universe version of that, where it’s as if Abraham had a daughter — kind of a metaphor for Katniss.”

In addition to “Abraham’s Daughter,” the group also contributed a song to the movie’s score, “Horn of Plenty.”

“We were interested in making music that would be more integral in the movie, just as a mental exercise,” Butler explained. “And there’s an anthem that runs throughout the books, the national anthem of the fascist Capitol. So as a thought experiment, we tried to write what that might sound like. It’s like the Capitol’s idea of itself, basically.”

“It’s not a pop song or anything,” he added. “More of an anthem that could be playing at a big sporting event like the Games. So we did a structure for that, and then James Newton Howard made a movie-score version of it that happens in several places in the film.”

I personally love that he cited Exit Music (for a film) because I think I was 16 or 17 when Romeo+Juliet came out and that song was just beyond amazing playing during the credits. To this day it’s still my favorite Radiohead song. What do you guys think about Abraham’s Daughter?

Several months ago when I guested on an episode of Hunger Games Fireside Chat, they had a woman named Rebekah Hawker on as a guest because of her song ‘Girl on Fire’ and I totally fell in love with it, but she didn’t have her own YouTube channel, so I don’t know if I ever posted it. She emailed us a couple days ago with a link to her song, so now you all can listen to it on YouTube. Enjoy!

Behind the scenes for Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe and Sound’ music video. Looks like she had a really clear idea as to how she wanted the music video and she suffered through a pretty cold day to film it! Hats off to Taylor and her crew for an amazing job!
