Welcome to Mockingjay.net, the number one source on the web dedicated to the Hunger Games! We were founded in July of 2009, before the title of the third book had been announced. We're here to have fun with other Hunger Games fans with discussion, contests, the Jabberjays podcast, and an up to date news blog that covers anything related to the books or the upcoming film that is being made by Lionsgate.

In this podcast we discuss our upcoming 24 day countdown to ‘Mockingjay’ that will involve prizes donated by Scholastic UK, Hot Topic, and Borders. We also talk about our live podcast that is going to be at the Torrance Borders on the 28th of August at 4:00 PM, and we’re extremely excited about it! Our friends Matt and Andrew from Imprint and Mugglecast will be joining us on our panel. Our discussion today is about ‘The Hunger Games’ movie! It’s extremely close to getting a director, due to the fact that Billy Ray is revising. Once the script is complete, we will have a director, and once we have a director, our cast will begin to come together. We also announce our new poll feature, and our encyclopedia that has just now been put up on the site. A big thanks to our forum users for the months of work that were needed to build it up!

In this podcast, our first episode in our chapter by chapter discussion series, we discuss chapters 1-3 of the Hunger Games! We touch on many points including our first impressions of the post apocalyptic society, the characters, and many of our favorite conspiracy theories. Some of these include the mysteries surrounding the death of Katniss and Gale’s fathers, and the urgency in Madge’s tone as she delivers the Mockingjay pin. Our special guest on this podcast is Lori from the Twilight Lexicon, who recently read the books and has been dying to discuss them! We announce our Online Store opening, and more. This podcast is our longest yet, so I hope you enjoy it! Also, please let us know which intro/outro music you like best, the original music in episodes 1-7, the Tik Tok intro from episode 8, or this intro/outro which is Manju by E.S. Posthumus.

The title and cover of final novel in the Hunger Games trilogy has been released! Kimmy, JD, Becka, and Andrew come together in this special podcast to chat about the amazing news. This is the first Jabberjays episode to have 4 hosts, the first to be over an hour long, and the first to only take Kimmy one day to edit. (It normally takes a week or more, she was very excited!) The cover has a lot of symbolism behind it, and we think the title is just plain perfect. Not to mention, we are all feeling very lucky that the name of the book is the same as the title of our site! We share what you guys have been saying on the site about the new cover/title using your forum posts and comments. We all love our ‘Music Mondays’ so we included 2 of those as well. More info about the ‘Tick Tock – Hunger Games Parody’ lyrics contest is also announced, and more. I hope you enjoy!

In this podcast we share a lot of music that we have featured on Music Mondays, and we talk about a bunch of our Discussion Wednesdays that have had a good response with you guys. We also let you guys know that we have job openings for transcribers, and that we are going to be starting a chapter by chapter analysis series and want you guys to join in! So, your homework is to read the first three chapters of the Hunger Games and email your thoughts, discussions, and ideas to mockingjay.net@gmail.com. Our special host is Becka, who was one of the people who came up with the idea for the site! We talk about what we were doing when we came up with the idea for the site, and the awful situation with the restraunt waiter. We also explain that we really want to be better at getting more podcasts out and why we have been lacking lately.

More discussion with Kimmy, JD, and our special guest Andrew! We discuss District 13 and it’s secrets, how the games would have gone down if Prim had been the tribute, and discuss your opinions on what makes the Hunger Games so terrible. We also include some discussions on merchandise, if we would find the Hunger Games entertaining to watch, and touch on which actor should play Katniss in the Hunger Games movie. We ramble on a lot, so there is a whole lot to listen to in this episode, I hope you enjoy it!

This episode is being reposted due to it randomly disspearing off of iTunes. Very strange!

“Clove opens her jacket. It's lined with an impressive array of knives. She carefully selects an almost dainty-looking number with a cruel, curved blade. "I promised Cato if he let me have you, I'd give the audience a good show."
I'm struggling now in an effort to unseat her, but it's no use. She's too heavy and her lock on me too tight.
"Forget it, District Twelve. We're going to kill you.”
