Welcome to Mockingjay.net, the most visited source on the web dedicated to the Hunger Games! We were founded in July of 2009, before the title of the third book had been announced. We're here to have fun with other Hunger Games fans with discussion, contests, the Jabberjays podcast, and an up to date news blog that covers anything related to the books or the upcoming film that is being made by Lionsgate.

Categories: Podcast

A few weeks back, one of our readers commented and said that they’d like to get a rundown of what happens on Fireside Chat each week if they can’t listen in live. I apologize because I haven’t really had time to do this for you guys. Recently, Fireside Chat launched their own website and they also put up highlights of their show from earlier in the week. Awesome, because now I can just post this! :)

Listen to the highlight above where we have a good laugh about a bunch of extras that added themselves to the IMDB full cast list including a mysterious man named Trexler Hoverhound.

This is that cool announcement you’ve been waiting for! You may have heard of Andrew Sims, one of the original masterminds behind ‘Mugglenet,’ the #1 Harry Potter fan website. Now, Hypable’s ‘Hunger Games’ podcast ‘Hypable’s Hunger Games Chat’ will be merging with ‘Jabberjays,’ to create ‘Hunger Games Chat,’ and I hope you enjoy it! It works out really well since Andrew and I both live in LA now so I can head over to his apartment to record. Huge thank you to Andrew for doing this with us, I think it’ll be fun. They’ll be monthly for now but as news picks up we will pick them up more frequently.

Jabberjays #15 – The Games Begin 3/23/12
Posted by Kimmy • 76 Comments »
Categories: Podcast

We talk the newly announced release date for the ‘Hunger Games’ movie, March 23rd 2012, along with our special guest Matt Britton! Is it too soon, too late, will it change? Is this enough time for the CGI required, filming, and post-production, especially when we take into account that nobody has been officially cast yet? We talk more about the actresses who should play Katniss (we always get on this topic, we are about to explode out of anticipation, cast her please!), and banter about the movie rating / budget as well. We feature a great song called ‘Earth’ by Second Person, which seems to fit eerily well to the books.

Jabberjays #14 – Gory, Bloody, Shocking….and PG-13
Posted by Kimmy • 33 Comments »
Categories: Podcast

We discuss the PG-13 rating, and how a lot of people want it to be R, how Gary Ross got the job as director, and that auditions should be under way RIGHT NOW. How exciting is that? We give more information on the co-host situation. If you would like to apply to be a co-host, email your name, age, and a little about yourself to [email protected] We will get back to all of you but we will only be auditioning a few people for the position. Please understand that we’ll have a large volume of applicants. Also, the job will not be too frequent, we’ll only need an extra co-host occasionally. Just wanted to clear that up! Next week we’re discussing ‘The Hunger Games’ chapters 4-6 so if you want to read along, grab your books and read those chapters!

We announce that we finally are on a regular schedule (and are starting to get enough news to fill up a regular schedule, how exciting!), and some other interesting podcast-related things. Would you like to be a guest host? If you would like to see some other people in the podcast let us know below. We discuss the short film by ‘MainstayPro‘ on YouTube which went up the exact day Becka and I recorded the last episode. Also, we discuss movie related things including the now known $60 million budget, and how the hype for the movie has increased a lot over the past few weeks with well known sources like Entertainment Weekly and MTV picking up on the possible ‘next big thing.’

Jabberjays #12 – We’ve Got a Director!
Posted by Kimmy • 26 Comments »
Categories: Podcast

SPOILER ALERT! There are ‘Mockingjay’ spoilers in this podcast, but I expect most of you have read it by now. In this overdue podcast we discuss the director decision for the ‘Hunger Games’ movie, actresses that have received the script, and the age-issue with casting. How old is too old, and how young is too young? We touch on people’s problems with the ending, what loose ends they wished had been tied up. The podcast will be going through a revamp shortly, with scheduled episodes, a possible monthly featured-fan episode (where you could join us as a host), and much more!
