- Hello, human! You’ve got a full keyboard in front of you. Please use it. Not capitalising "I" or first letters of proper nouns is forgivable. Saying: "peta n katnis iz my fav peeps, cos their like, bam! in prezz snows face!" is not.
- So, as we all know, the forum gets a lot of spam. To combat this, we delete all members with a post count of 0, and in future, will delete any new member with a dodgy sounding name - anything like jrabbdeuygks36 for example.
- If you think your name may come under suspicion, contact an admin when you join, and we'll try to remember not to delete you.
- If anyone has any questions about the forum, please post it in this thread, instead of starting your own new topic for each question - it'll be easier for everyone to access the answers to any questions they have as well.
- Read the rules and look around to see if there's a thread that looks like yours already. Duplicate topics make the forum messy, and split the discussion.
How can I get involved in Mockingjay.net?
From time to time, the main site will take applications for various staff roles. Keep your eyes on the lookout. The forum team, however, is not accepting any applications right now. Remain a regular member and you may see positions open up.
What is Karma and [applaud] / [smite]?
Well, if you want a philosophical answer, you're out of luck. If you just want to know what that little stat is, we think it's pretty obvious.
[APPLAUD] a user when you see a particularly special post. It can be helpful, insightful, really nice, etc.
[SMITE] a user if the post is really bad in some way. Hopefully, this won't be used much, right guys?
KARMA is simply the compilation of pluses and minuses given to you by fellow members of the board. It calculates how often you've been extra awesome and high points could possibly earn you some brownies some day.
Note that you may not see who gave you a plus or minus, but we do keep an eye out for oddly-behaving stats. If it's moving too fast in either direction, we'll take care of it.
Who are the Peacekeepers, Head Peacekeepers, mentors and judges?
In the book, those are the ones who set the rules and control the day-to-day life of Panem and the Arena. It’s sort of the same here! The Head Peacekeeper is xweheldtheworld, and the Peacekeepers are miss kay and Tash. The Mentors work on our Character Index (like an encyclopedia) and the Judges help us pick the best art for the annual Pearl Awards.
How do I Identify a member of the Forum Team, and what roles do they have?
Peacekeepers are the Moderators, and their user names are in green. They manage the day-to-day of the forum including: spam, rule breaks, bans, locking, deleting, and graveyarding threads and posts, making topics, announcements, and stickies in locked and unlocked areas, making polls etc..
Head Peacekeepers are Administrators, and their user names are in red. They have the same jobs as the mods, as well as extra behind-the-scenes work that includes making sub-forums and ranks and giving users more privileges. Basically changing most aspects of the forum.
The Gamemaker has ultimate privileges over the forum, and is displayed in the same admin colour. She, however, is not around so Admins take over everything.

See How-To for more image info.
How can I get a good avatar/banner?
For the best effect: make it yourself! There are many great image editing programs out there, both as downloadable software (Photoshop and the ones on your computer already like paint for PCs), and on the internet (google+, tinypic’s fotoflexer). You could also try asking another forum member for their help in making one. Many people are happy to do this, provided you ask nicely. Many other people will create huge amounts of artwork that they will allow you to use - but you should ALWAYS ask their permission to use it, and they may want you to give them credit in your signature.
Where can I talk to other forum users in real time about the Hunger Games?
We had a chatroom, but it is now dead. We may try to organise chat events someday, but right now it’s only forum posts.
How do I make a poll?
Polls are only able to be made by the Forum Team. Ask any Peacekeeper or Head Peacekeeper and we will be more than happy to create it for you.
What is Spam and how do I get rid of it?
Spam is basically anything advertising services or goods. It’ll likely be gross or something no one needs, so thank you for wanting to be a Spam Crusader! If the topic says anything about Sex or Porn please, do not go into it. A Moderator/Administrator can delete it without actually going into the thread. If there are minor things like: Buy Baby Formula from Target etc... Simply click into the topic, and click the Report to moderator link at the bottom of their post. Oh, and please do not comment on spam! It makes it harder for us to find!
How do I put an image in my post?
Upload it to a website like TinyPic, DeviantART, Photobucket etc. Then get the URL location of the image and put it in between img tags. Check the How-To thread for further help.
Do I need permission to start a new thread?
Nope! Simply click the "New Topic" button and start typing! Please do not create duplicate threads though!
A user has been harassing me!
We aim to be an ideal forum environment, and we really are. There are pretty much no incidents of this, but if something does happen where you feel like a user has been harassing you, please email any member of the Forum Team! We can sort out your issue, and you can choose to remain completely anonymous!
I think the rules are too harsh!
We are sorry you think this, but please remember we aim to keep everything PG-13. If there is a particular rule you have an issue with, leave a comment here or email a member of the Forum Team.
How do I get in contact with a member of the Forum Team?
There is now a thread with our best contacts listed. Go there to find us for help, spam notifications, or if you fall in the ‘desperately need a username change’ category.
How do I find my old posts?
Click Profile, then click Show Posts. Alternatively, you can also do a search by clicking the link at the top of the forum.
How can I delete my Account?
What!? You want to delete your account! Well, whatever the reason, we are sincerely sorry to see you go. If it is because of any issue, feel free to contact a member of the Forum Team and we will try to resolve your issue ASAP. But, if you really want to delete your account, contact an Administrator.
How can I change my username?
As stated previously, if you fall within the 'desperately need username change' category, you may email one of the ADMINS for help with this. Please send us at least one back-up option for a new username and we'll see what we can do. Please be aware that usernames containing 'Rue', 'Katniss', or 'Peeta' will not be accepted as they've been disallowed due to extreme overuse that the mods can no longer keep track of all the people with those name variations.
I tried to join the forum, but I haven't been sent an activation email! What can I do?
Email or PM a mod or admin, telling us your username. We can and will manually activate your account.
