The film adaptation of The Hunger Games is currently in pre-production. It’s director is unknown, and no cast members have signed onto the project. August 28th, 2010 Billy Ray, who wrote State of Play and is set to adapt the Fox action drama 24 into a feature, completed a polish. Producers are now searching for a director. [Read Article]
July 19th, 2010:The veteran screenwriter Billy Ray has been doing a draft/polish of the script that was initially written by Collins herself. [Read Article]
May 30th, 2010: They hope to be able to announce a director this summer, and go into production in January to release the film later in 2011. [Read Article]
March 11th, 2010: Nina Jacobson (Producer) reveals there has been an “embarrasment of riches” in terms of directors who are interested in ‘The Hunger Games.’ There are no actors signed on to the movie yet. “We’re getting the script in and our goal is we hope to attach a director late spring and make the movie in the fall for release anytime fall ‘11 or later. March 17th, 2009: Lionsgate acquires feature rights to Suzanne Collins’ novel “The Hunger Games” and sets the project up with Nina Jacobson at her Color Force banner. It is announced that Collins will write the first draft of the screenplay. [Read Article]
