Casting Fire: Fancasting Michael Emerson as Beetee

You asked us to do more ‘Catching Fire’ cast predictions, and we answered! Each week up until official ‘Catching Fire’ castings are announced, the staff of Mockingjay.net will be running a series called ‘Casting Fire’, taking a look at potential casting choices for other ‘Catching Fire’ characters. Today we’re doing our second week of Beetee, discussing Michael Emerson.

Best known for his role as the nefarious and scheming Benjamin Linus from LOST, Michael Emerson is much older than he looks at 57 years old and currently stars in the CBS show ‘Person of Interest’.

Ciara

I was never a dedicated follower of Lost but there was one of the later seasons I watched in which Michael Emerson was quite prominent and he really caught my eye in both this and Saw. He definitely looks the part and he’s a really accomplished and underrated actor. I could certainly see Emerson in the role, he has that wide eyed look about him, you always think he might possibly know more than he lets on. He’d make a brilliant Beetee

Crystal

For as long as I can remember, the Beetee in my head has been Michael Emerson from LOST. He wears glasses like a champ, looks like a really smart guy and a nerd, and can most certainly act. I was pretty shocked to find out that he’s 57 years old, but for me he doesn’t look too young or too old. He just looks like Beetee. He’s done tons of island work, so if they film the arena here in Hawaii, it’ll be no big deal for him and he *loved* living here so my guess is he’d jump at the chance. The only thing is that he probably won’t be Beetee. His show Person of Interest got renewed for next season, which pretty much leaves him out of the picture. That makes me so sad. :(

Liam Hemsworth Covers Prestige Magazine

Check out these amazing photos of Liam Hemsworth in Hong Kong magazine Prestige!

There has been an enormous buzz around the world following The Hunger Games. What’s it like being caught up in it all?
Pretty much the whole of March I’ve been travelling, doing press everywhere. It’s been awesome. I’ve never promoted something as big as this. So it’s been pretty cool. As an actor I always look for things I relate to in one way or another, or things that are different. And this is definitely all that and has a huge fan base behind it already. I’ve never been a part of something like that before so it has been interesting.

What attracted you to the production and to the role?
It’s been different to any kind of movie that I’ve done before. I think it has given me a chance to show something different as an actor and be seen in a different light.

Chace Crawford is best known for his role as the handsome Nate Archibald on the CW’s ‘Gossip Girl’. The native Texan has also has an upcoming role in Lionsgates ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’. So is the handsome 26 year old right for one of the most coveted roles in ‘The Hunger Games’ fandom? Here is what the fan sites have to say…

Mockingjay

Crystal: I feel like every week I’m saying, “I’ve never heard of him.” and sadly, this week is no different. I haven’t seen him in anything, so once again, I have no idea if he can act. I will say though, that he does look charming enough to be Finnick. A bit of lightening of his hair and a bit of a tan and I think he could be him. He does look young, but he looks like the right kind of young. I can see him being a 24 year old Finnick. The really weird thing about him though, is that he reminds me of a cross between Wes Bentley and Liam Hemsworth!

Hunger Games DWTC

Arianna: To be honest I’ve heard of Chace Crawford but I never paid much attention to him. I’m not sure I could see him as Finnick because he’ll forever be “that dude” from Gossip Girl. Although he will be appearing in What To Expect When Your Expecting this year, it looks like he has only really done scary movie before. I cannot judge his acting since I’ve never seen it and I won’t knock him if he ever did get the role, but he is a good looker, which is always a plus.

Liam Hemsworth on Francis Lawrence and Gary Ross

E!Online caught up with Liam Hemsworth this weekend and asked him what he’s thoughts are on Cathcing Fire’s new director, Francis Lawrence, and the departure of Hunger Games director, Gary Ross.

“The last I heard the new director (Lawrence) had just come on, so that’s really cool,” the Aussie actor told us this weekend at City Year’s second annual Spring Break event. “I’m excited about that. I think we shoot the last few months of this year.”

Not that Hemsworth is happy to see Ross go.

“I’m really sad to see that Gary’s not going to be part of the second one,” he said. “He did such an amazing job on the first.”

But don’t get too worried. Hemsworth said, “I think that there’s still so many people a part of it that want the film to be great and care about it so much that they’re not going to bring the wrong person on.”

Following on from the immense worldwide success of ‘The Hunger Games’, the film has now been approved for release in China!

The film will be released nationwide in China with both dubbed and subtitled prints by The China Film Group in conjunction with Lionsgate’s promotional partner, Talent International. THE HUNGER GAMES will be one of the first Hollywood studio films to be released in China under the new blockbuster revenue sharing agreement announced in February that allows Western distributors to collect up to 25% of a film’s receipts in China.

“THE HUNGER GAMES juggernaut continues to gain momentum around the world, and we’re thrilled that we can now share the exciting first installment of THE HUNGER GAMES franchise with Chinese moviegoers in June,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman. “China is already one of the leading territories at the international box office, and the launch of THE HUNGER GAMES in this key market is another sign of the franchise’s continuing emergence as a truly global phenomenon.”

It’s fantastic that fans in China now get the chance to see ‘The Hunger Games’ on the big screen and share our excitement :D
